How I Built a Stronger Connection with My Body Using Gua Sha

My Story

For the past few months, I’ve been fully committed to one thing—slowing down. It’s something that doesn’t come naturally in a world that constantly pulls us in different directions. But in the stillness, I’ve found something that was missing—a deeper connection with my body. And the simple tool that’s helped me get there? My body Gua Sha.

At first, I started using my body Gua Sha simply as a way to ease muscle tension. What I didn’t expect was how much it would teach me about my mind and body connection. Each stroke across my skin invited me to slow down, take a deep breath, and actually feel my body—something I have been overlooking for too long.

A Moment to Be Still

Incorporating Body Gua Sha into my evenings has completely shifted the way I unwind. Instead of scrolling on my phone or letting my mind race, I now take those extra few minutes to be still. As I glide the tool over my shoulders, arms, and legs, I feel my body physically letting go of the day’s tension. My mind slows, my breath deepens, and when I finally get into bed, I sleep better—something I hadn’t realised I needed so badly.

Essential Oils & Gua Sha – A Perfect Pair

One thing I love to do is pair my Body Gua Sha with essential oils. A few drops of Hemp carrier and vetiver or lavender EO make the experience even more grounding. The oil allows the Gua Sha to glide effortlessly, making each movement feel intentional and calming.

My Favourite Places to Use It

One of the best parts about the body Gua Sha is that it’s so versatile. I use it everywhere—

  • In the shower, with warm water softening my muscles

  • In the bath, creating a spa-like experience at home

  • In the sauna, where the heat helps loosen tension even more

  • While traveling, because it’s compact and easy to bring along

No matter where I use it, it’s a reminder to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with myself.

Committing to Myself

Using my Body Gua Sha has become more than just a self-care practice—it’s a commitment to myself. It’s a way of showing up for my body, acknowledging where I hold tension, and taking the time to release it. I didn’t realise how much I needed this time until I made it a regular part of my life. And now, I can’t imagine going without it.

So, if you’ve been looking for a way to feel more grounded, more at home in your body, and more present in your own life—this might just be it.

Much love, Ash xo
